About Practical Bookkeeping, Accounting & Taxation Services
Practical Bookkeeping, Accounting & Taxation Services (PBATS) was formed by the merger of Practical Bookkeeping Services and BAT Services in October 2019. Martin & Rebecca, the owners of BAT Services and Practical Bookkeeping Services have worked closely with each other over the past few years in their own areas of expertise and it was felt that the timing was right to merge the two businesses.
With the combination of expertise, our team of four are now in an even better position to assist you with whatever your needs are. You can rely on PBATS for as little or as much as you need - we can provide any selection of services you require as no one starts a business to spend all their time doing their books or having to worry about filing deadlines (well, except us!)
We're still as keen as ever to avoid the stereotypes of the accounting industry – stuffy suits, jargon and paying for quick phone calls. With over 34 years experience between Martin & Rebecca alone, we pride ourselves on being friendly and approachable.
Come and meet the team below...
Rebecca has lived in Rayleigh for 5 years, working in various local companies as part of the accounts team. She led the team in the last couple while completing her level 4 AAT before taking the leap to start Practical Bookkeeping Services.
During her time working for the variety of companies, Rebecca came across lots of different industries and ways of working, helping her to be able to adapt her methods of working to suit who she's working with. This flexible approach, along with her knowledge of many business sectors, has helped Rebecca & the company to flourish.
In her spare time Rebecca enjoys time with her husband & two children, spin classes (followed by a lovely omlette at the local cafe) and reading.
Martin has lived in Leigh for 18 years and he has worked in three local chartered accountancy practices during that time. He qualified under the AAT in 2008 and later passed his chartered exams under the ACCA in 2016.
In his time in practice he has gained a wealth of experience in delivering a wide range of services to individuals, along with small and medium businesses. Amongst his day to day duties his specialisms include business plans to obtain bank funding for growth, along with tax planning and savings.
In his spare time Martin enjoys a weekly round of golf, trips to the gym, spending time with his wife and three children (and many pets!), along with regular trips to Costa for coffee and cake!
Susan first met Rebecca when she was her maternity cover. Susan stayed on when Rebecca returned, sharing the job, they soon become friends and stayed in touch when Rebecca left her job to set up PBS.
Susan left shortly after, moving to another company in a payroll position, when she had a catch up coffee with Rebecca, with her mentioning she might need to take someone on... Susan jumped at the chance to work with Rebecca again, especially being able to continue working with her love of payroll! Just don't call her Sue!
In her spare time Susan also enjoys time with her partner & three children and going on camping holidays.
Charlotte has a background in admin, including working alongside Rebecca. She's an avid Facebook user so when she was starting to look for work after her second child she was an obvious choice for Rebecca to take on to help with the companies social media. Charlotte will be the one checking we're following your page, sharing your posts and all things Facebook related.
In her spare time Charlotte loves all things crafty! She also enjoys looking after her allotment, sometimes "helped" by her 2 children and partner.
